Killswitch Engage gitarist Adam Dutkiewicz en voormalig Killswitch Engage zanger Jesse Leach hebben de handen ineengeslagen voor een nieuwe band, Times Of Grace. Het indrukwekkende debuutalbum "The Hymn of A Broken Man" zal op 5 november bij Roadrunner Records verschijnen.
Dutkiewicz speelt alle instrumenten op dit album en verzorgt ook backing- (soms ook lead-) vocals, alsmede de productie van het album. Dit is de eerste keer dat het duo samen een album heeft opgenomen sinds de KsE klassieker "Alive Or Just Breathing" (toevallig ook het laatste album met Adam op drums voordat hij de gitaar oppakte). Alhoewel de band zal draaien om Adam en Jesse zal Times Of Grace ook een tour-lineup krijgen.
Veel fans zullen naar de samenwerking uitkijken, maar men moet geen "Alive Of Just Breathing, Deel 2" verwachten. Dit is een compleet nieuw project en is ook een nieuwe muzikale richting voor Adam D en Leach. Het is een album wat draait om het uitroeien van innerlijke demonen met muziek wat agressief maar ook melodieus is.
"In all my life. I have yet to write a record that bares my soul as much as this record does," aldus Leach. "Adam and I had a real spiritual connection while making this and I know that it comes through in the performances and lyrics. This record has our blood, sweat, and tears flowing through it. It is painfully honest at times. In short, this record is our catharsis."
Adam voegt toe: "Making this record was something completely new for me. It documents some of the most difficult, yet spirited times of my life in the past three-and-a-half years. A lot of the music and lyrics just came out of me while going through internal struggles, and writing these songs was the only comfort I could find. I reached out to Jesse to help sing and write these songs with me because of my respect for his musical abilities, and because of our great friendship...one that seems to not change no matter what happens in our lives. In the end, I am very proud of this record, and I feel it has helped me through some of my darkest days. I'm hoping that people will enjoy it, and also that it can maybe help others to keep the most positive mindset, even through the most trying of times."
Het album begint met het militaristische "Strenght In Numbers", die lagen van zangmelodiën combineert met donderdende drums, en het bijtende "Fight For Life", wat uitgebalanceerd is met Leach's herkenbare zang. Er zijn ook momenten van schoonheid met het ruwe maar elegante "Until The End Of Days", en ook heftige gitaarriffs worden niet geschuwd op tracks als "Live In Love and Hope Remains". Het album sluit af met het exquisiete "Fall From Grace", met Dutkiewicz op lead-zang. Times of Grace gaat vooruit, en neemt je met hen mee.
